When the World is Quiet

May 15, 2020 – Day 60 of my quarantine.

Wow. Made it to Day 60.

Sometimes, very late at night after everyone I know has logged-out, I sneak into Second Life and build things for my own pleasure. I’ve been working on an Art Deco style theater. It’s a great break from working on the book and a wonderful way for me to escape into another world for a while.

While I build I listen to music, usually Cimemix – a streaming radio station that plays film music. Tonight they played a song I had not heard before and it so completely captured emotionally what I was feeling – just me there with all my grand ideas. I wanted to share it with you.

I know that people who care about me sometimes worry and wonder if feel lonely. But really, I never do because I surround myself with so much art and music. There is a richness to my life in that regard. There’s a different kind of communion in my world, one that I learned at a very young age when I played alone in the forests of the Adirondack Mountains. Everything can speak to you if you take the time to listen. Everything has its own story and the Universe freely gives-up its deepest mysteries to those who, in solitude, gently inquire.

Here are some pics of the build in progress – It’s still very “raw” without material textures. But I’m especially pleased with how the brass entrance turned out.
