Sunday Inspirations

I’ve been waiting over 10 years for this art book to be published and FINALLY it is close to being released – I’ll be getting my copy sometime after Christmas.

On my desktop I have a folder titled “Project Ray Gun” – it’s one of those project ideas that has been in the back of my mind for a long time. In fact, the idea for it popped into my head the first time I saw this scene from the film Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow – featuring Giovanni Ribisi as “Dex”

During my time in the virtual world I developed a business brand for products I was inventing and building that I called, “Mysterious Mechanic” – And lately I see where this idea and the Project Ray Gun idea are beginning to commingle in my subconscious.

I draw a lot of inspiration from creators like the Conran Brothers, whose film literally began on an Apple computer in Kerry Conran’s apartment bedroom using After Effects to create a short 6 minute concept film and it took him 4 years to cobble together that 6 minutes.

Obviously, I am drawn to the romantic yet tragic “undaunted lone auteur” archetype because, let’s face it, that represents how I envision my best self – laboring tirelessly here in the studio.

Sunday is a great day to relax, re-charge, dream out loud and seek inspiration from fellow creators. I hope you are enjoying yours as well.

Until next time –
