Work Resumes While Still Rebuilding Computer

Dark Thoughts Production Begins

(Above- Screen shot of Adobe After Effects working on a scene for the new animated film)

I’m still trying to put this computer back together the way it was. Spent 3 hours this morning trying to get my Nvidia Control Panel downloaded and installed. What a total trial by fire this recovery has been.

It has had a few crashes after it came home from the shop but I suspect those were caused by driver issues that I pray I have now fixed.

The good news is all my Adobe software works as well as my Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet. So at least I have the tools I need to work.

The red balloon you see in this shot is my homage to Don Hertzfeldt’s Billy’s Balloon  one of my all time favorite animated shorts. If you are familiar with Billy’s Balloon then you can guess what’s about to happen to our poor little mouse here.

I’ve been reviewing a lot of Don’s work along with stop animation films directed by Henry Selick, an American stop motion director, producer and writer who is best known for directing the stop-motion animation films The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and Coraline.

I decided to experiment with After Effects for animation after I ran across a couple of intriguing tutorials dealing with hand drawn jitter effects using Turbulent Displacement.  It took me a while to figure it out (I’m a little rusty with the software) but so far I am happy with the tests and think it may yield some good results.

Until next time …
