First Monoprint test from a homemade gel print block (Art Lab how-to video coming soon) Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that has lines or images that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking, which allows for multiple originals. There are many techniques of monoprinting. Examples of standard printmaking techniques which can be used to make monoprints include lithography, woodcut, and etching.
Despite my reclusive nature, I attended a class on Dry Point Etching last Saturday in a nearby town that was very enjoyable. We were asked to sketch an image and then etch it into a poly carbon plate using metal scribes and abrasives which then served as the printing plate used to create print.
My studio experiments continue with several different types of printing and stamping methods.
Until next time …
